How Sasha Helps Ukrainian Parents

My name is Oleksandra and I am from Ukraine! I came to the Netherlands with my son, sister and two nephews. The Netherlands is a very beautiful country with good and polite people. Here we really feel the support of the people and the government. Our children went to school on the 3rd day of their stay in the country. The teachers helped the children very diligently and sensitively to adapt in the classes. They provided psychological help (if you need it) to both parents and children, they even made special notebooks for children in the Ukrainian language, so that the children felt like they were on a trip. The children really like the school. and the most important thing is that they feel safe! Parents are also helped here with finding a job and learning the Dutch language, there are free programs in schools with learning foreign languages. So you can adapt very quickly.

We are currently staying with a volunteer, his name is Peter Fekkes, we found him on the Schelter4Ukraine.app website, he helps us with everything! He also helped me find a job and now I work with the incredible development team of Ziber. These men and women develop applications for schools. Ziber makes applications for parents, with which parents can follow the school life of their child: what he/she does during the week, where the class goes on excursions and an overview of the holidays. If your child is sick or can't be at school, you can use this application to inform the class teacher. This application for me personally resembles a social network where you can follow the school life of your child. Your privacy is very much respected here, so if you don't want your child to be in the photos, they will not be photographed without your permission.

At school children have many different forms of entertainment, that's why the teachers record it on film so they can see what your child is interested in and what he does at school. It's very useful and interesting!

Teachers use a different app, which syncs with the parent app. Thanks to this app, teachers keep you informed about your child. You can also schedule an appointment with the teacher via the application (this is similar to our parent meetings).

The school also has a parent committee, which organizes and plans holidays or trips together with the teacher, other parents also actively participate in helping the teacher. All this is very easy to do via the parent app. If something happens (bad weather or something else), the teacher will let you know immediately in the form of an emergency message that you see directly on the screen of your phone.

I have the opportunity to help the development team to adapt these applications for the Ukrainian user, which I am currently doing. We are Ukrainians and a very united nation, so we always help each other and the Dutch are very similar to us in this, they always help us to feel comfortable in their country! I am very happy to work with the Ziber team and to be able to help you to better understand Dutch school education!
